Welcome to my Free Guitar Lessons

If you are looking to get started with you guitar and you have no idea how to, I will be showing you how to get started and you will be able to play in no time at all.

How am I going to do that???? Well I've been teaching guitar for over 6 years from as young as a 5 year old kid and I have had massive success. You can also check out my page on www.facebook.com/learnmusictoday.mw. Here's me performing at Chancellor College, University of Malawi, where I studied Music. This is actually a painting not a real photo, I did it myself. I love drawing and painting. So lets get Started.

You guitar be it acoustic or electric guitar has got 6 strings. For now I will give them numbers. The smallest one, the one that's very tiny is number one. Its the one that stays at the bottom facing the ground. The one that looks big is string 6. Then we have frets, the little wire-like metals across the neck of your guitar. When pressing down the strings, you fingers don't land on the actual the frets but in the spaces between different frets. For example, fret number 1 is the first space at the top of the neck of you guitar, just before the first metal-like wire, which is also called a fret. So when we say put your finger in first fret, it means that space before the first metal-like wire. Check the diagram below.

The left hand fingers are numbered 1, 2, 3, 4. Finger 1 is the pointer finger (the one you use for pointing) and the pinky (the smallest finger) is number 4.
Alright, that's our start up for today, I hope this has been very helpful. Next we will look at how we can correctly hold our guitar for easy playing and then be on our way to play our first basic chords.
